FOUNDATIONS

Where your journey begins.

Foundations is a three-month, hands-on program for people with little to no experience who want to become professional barbers, not just people who can cut hair. Two days a week, six hours a day, you will build the technical system, the professional habits and the client skills that every career in this trade is built on.

We cap every cohort at 8 students. You get a chair, a manikin, an instructor’s full attention and a lot of repetitions.

Course Details

  • The Haides Standard: sanitation, tools of the craft, station setup and professional conduct from day one. The architecture of a haircut: reference points, sectioning, guidelines and headsheets, so you plan the cut before you pick up a tool. The full clipper system: clipper control, the guard ladder, clipper-over-comb, and fade construction, finish and refinement across taper, low, mid, high and skin. Facial hair, line-ups and necklines. Precision scissorwork and core shapes, scissor-over-comb, and connecting clippers to scissors in one seamless shape. Styling and finishing to a photograph-ready standard.

  • The consultation: greet, ask, listen, look, recommend, confirm. Communication, timing and efficiency behind the chair. How to deliver a service that leaves every client more confident than when they arrived, and how to turn first visits into regulars. The professional standards Haides barbers are held to, practised every class.

  • The business of the chair: pricing, rebooking, building a clientele, your portfolio and your presence online. Where a barbering career can go, from junior barber to senior, mentor, educator and owner, and what each step takes. The final week is a career session: what to do the Monday after you graduate.

  • Every session ends with reps. Every block ends with a skill check rated by your instructor and by you, and a knowledge check on the theory. A midterm theory exam and practical at the halfway point; a final theory exam, final projects and instructor evaluation at the end. Your Foundations workbook is your textbook, practice log and progress record, and by graduation it is the start of your professional portfolio. Certificates are earned, not handed out: meet the certificate requirements and you graduate signed off against the Haides Standard by our Director of Education.

    Kit & registration fee: $400 CAD + GST, invoiced at enrolment

FRAMEWORK

Build on your foundation. Cut like a professional.

Framework is a three-day intensive with Gino Dominic for working barbers and stylists who have the basics down and want to be faster, cleaner and more consistent. It is the natural next step for Foundations graduates, and for anyone who has been cutting for a while and feels their growth has plateaued.

Three consecutive days, six hours a day, four seats. A balance of demonstration, technical practice on manikins and hands-on work on live models, with Gino working station to station.

Course Details

  • Refined cutting technique, clipper control and fade consistency, and precision in your finish work. If you have the basics but your results vary from client to client, this is where they stop varying.

  • More complex shapes and customized haircuts: reading head shape, hair texture and growth pattern, then planning and executing a cut that fits the person in the chair. Speed and efficiency without losing quality. Full timed services on live models, photographed for your portfolio.

  • As your technique sharpens, we help you define your signature approach and the kind of barber you want to be, and map a career path that matches your goals, whether that is a fully booked chair, a senior role, or a step toward Summit.

  • Three consecutive days · 6 hours per day · 18 hours
    $1,500 CAD + GST
    Maximum four students. Runs monthly in Port Moody.

    Prerequisite: Haides EDU Foundations, or working experience behind the chair with clipper and scissor fundamentals.

SUMMIT

Reach the peak of your craft. Then go beyond the chair.

Summit is for barbers with a complete foundation and an elevated framework who are ready for the next phase: maximizing income behind the chair, and building what comes after it. Ownership. Leadership. Education. This is where you start to build your own brand and ecosystem.

Two days with the Haides co-founders: Gino Dominic on craft and the educator pathway, Chad Madrid on the business & marketing.

Course Details

  • The highest level of cutting and styling: full customization, maximum efficiency, and the accuracy and artistry that make your work stand out and command a premium.

  • The foundations of entrepreneurship in this trade: barbershop operations, leadership inside a team, the numbers that matter, and the early steps toward a shop and brand of your own. How to become a high-earning barber, and how to open a shop with lower risk and higher reward.

  • How to teach technical skills, structure a learning session and communicate in a way that improves other people’s work. A framework for building your own training programs and lesson plans, delivering education inside your team, and running workshops and classes. The starting point for barbers who want to mentor others and expand their influence beyond the chair.

  • Two days
    $1,500 CAD + GST

    Prerequisite: Haides EDU Framework, or equivalent experience as a working barber.

1:1 TAILORED EDUCATION

Your curriculum. Your pace. Your educator.

For barbers and stylists who want a fully immersive, personalized learning experience. Every 1:1 program starts with a free 30-minute discovery call to identify where you are and define the outcome you want. From there, your curriculum is built around you: any part of Foundations, Framework or Summit, in the order and depth that moves your work forward.

Choose your educator. Signature sessions are with Haides co-founder and Director of Education Gino Dominic. Standard sessions are with a Haides EDU educator, at a lower rate.

Course Details

  • Hands-on demonstration, guided practice and direct feedback, focused only on the technical areas you need. One student, one educator, one chair.

  • Work directly with the people who built and scaled the Haides brand. Beyond technique, you gain the systems, mindset and professional standards behind it, in a format built for open discussion, problem solving and advice specific to your career.

  • Depending on your goals, sessions can cover increasing income through your service structure, building a sustainable clientele, developing your personal brand, leading within a team, and pathways toward ownership or education.

    Half day (4 hours): $1,100 CAD + GST
    Full day (8 hours): $2,000 CAD + GST
    Three-day Signature intensive (24 hours): $5,400 CAD + GST (10% off three full days)

$500 deposit secures your seat and is applied to tuition. Non-refundable. Transferable once to a later cohort with 14 or more days’ notice; no transfers inside 14 days. Balance and kit fee are due before your first class; if the balance is unpaid 24 hours before day one, the seat is released. Payment plans and financing available on request.

What makes Haides EDU different from other barbering courses?

You are mentored by working barbers who have built successful careers and thriving businesses, inside a working barbershop, in a cohort of 8 maximum. Theory is kept short; the depth comes live, at the chair, and every block is assessed with skill checks, knowledge checks and honest reflection.

Do I need experience to start Foundations?

No. Foundations is built for beginners and people with little to no experience. We start with the absolute basics: sanitation, tools, clipper control, sectioning, scissor work and fading, and build step by step. If you have been cutting for a while, book a discovery call and we will tell you honestly whether Foundations, Framework or 1:1 is the right entry point.

How big are the classes?

Foundations runs at maximum 8 students per cohort. Framework and Summit are capped at four. 1:1 is exactly that.

What do I need to bring? Is a kit included?

Workbooks and classroom materials are provided. You bring your own tools: clippers with a full guard set, trimmer, cutting and texturizing shears, combs, clips, cape, and a blow dryer. Tool kits are available for purchase through Haides EDU if you are starting from scratch. Equipment costs cover: Manikins and stands which are yours to keep.
